HISTORY OF PADEL

Padel has its origins from Platform Tennis – a not so popular variant of enclosed Tennis.
In 1969 Enrique Corcuera from Mexico decided to adapt his Squash court at his home with elements of Platform Tennis creating what he called “Paddle Corcuera”. He is considered the inventor of Padel. Enrique’s Spanish friend Alfonso of Hohenlohe-Langenburg fell in love with the new game and immediately after trying it, he decided to create the first two Padel courts in a Tennis Club in Marbella – this was in 1974. Alfonso did include a few modifications to make it more competitive.
